Prodigious slugger Sammy Sosa was issued this Chicago Cubs home jersey during the 1996 MLB season. The right fielder from San Pedro de Macoris set a then-career high with 40 home runs in 1996, adding an even 100 RBI while hitting .273 in his fifth season for the Cubs. Sosa added 21 doubles, 84 runs scored, and 18 stolen bases in a well-rounded campaign. Sosa played 13 seasons with the Cubs, clearing the 60 home run mark in three of his seasons with the Chicago Senior Circuit outfit. Sosa finished his career with 609 home runs.

The jersey offered is a pinstriped white button-down with a large circular Cubs logo sewn on the left chest. “SOSA” and his number “21” are sewn on the back of the jersey in blue and red tackle twill. A second circular Cubs logo is sewn on the left sleeve while a Russell Athletic logo is sewn on the right sleeve. A Russell Athletic size “46” tag with an attached “100% Polyester” flag is sewn on the front left tail. Sosa has signed the back of the jersey in blue marker, inscribing “#21” and “09-14-96” in addition to his signature. The jersey comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication Services and a LOA from noted baseball game used jersey expert William Henderson.
