As the 1965 season unfolded, winds of change blew throughout the Junior Circuit. For the first time in 40 years, the almighty New York Yankees endured a losing campaign. Also, for the first time in their brief five-year tenure, the expansion Washington Senators did not lose 100 games. This baseball is autographed by (38) members of that District of Columbia roster. The clean and creamy Official American League Cronin sphere features black ballpoint pennings. Includes: Sweet Spot: McCormick and Gil Hodges (manager, d.1972); North Panel: Kirkland, Susce (coach), Coggins, Valentine, Cunningham, Held, Daniels, Chance, French and Kline; South Panel: Alyea, Hannan, Casanova, Ortega, Bridges, King and Brumley; West Panel: Yost (coach), Cottier, Pignatano (coach), Koplitz, Richert, Kreutzer, Hamlin and Ridzik; East Panel: Howard, Craig, Blasingame, Brinkman, Narum, Coleman, Camilli, Duckworth and Lock; Reverse Sweet Spot: Walker (coach) and Hannan (repeat signature). Note, the signature of frank Coggins suggests that the ball was signed during spring training, as Coggins spent the bulk of the 1965 season with Class A Burlington and did not debut with the parent club until 1967. Accompanying is a full photo LOA from JSA.
