Joe Dimaggio Signed Vintage 1970's New York Yankees Game Model Jersey Beckett

Offered is a Wilson size 42 button-down New York Yankees jersey signed by Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio. DiMaggio played his entire 13-year career with the Yankees. Widely considered one of the greatest baseball players of all time, “The Yankee Clipper” is perhaps best known for his 56-game hitting streak (May 15 – July 16, 1941), a record that still stands. He was a three-time Most Valuable Player Award winner and an All-Star in each of his 13 seasons. During his tenure with the Yankees, the club won 10 American League pennants and nine World Series championships. At the time of his retirement after the 1951 season, he ranked fifth in career home runs (361) and sixth in career slugging percentage (.579).

The seven-button jersey features navy pinstripes and the iconic interlocking “NY” logo on the chest in navy blue tackle twill. A Wilson size “42” tag rests on the inside collar. The number “5” appears in navy tackle twill on the jersey’s back. DiMaggio inscribed “ To Pete Best Wishes” and added his flowing signature in the same black ink above the Yankee logo. This jersey was sold at auction several years ago as part of a Rocky Marciano Collection. It is most likely that the “Pete” in the inscription was for Rocky Marciano’s brother Pete. The item comes with an LOA from Beckett Authentication for DiMaggio’s signature.
