Willie Mays 1951 Giants Team Signed Baseball "The Giants Win The Pennant" PSA

$999.00

In 1951 New York Giants were a team of destiny, engineering an incredible comeback to force a three-game playoff with the Brooklyn Dodgers to decide who would reach the World Series. In the bottom of the ninth inning of the decisive game, Giants outfielder Bobby Thomson crushed a walk off three-run home run against Ralph Branca to send the Giants to the Fall Classic. The Giants and New York Yankees met in a climactic World Series and this was the final World Series for Joe DiMaggio, although both Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays made their World Series debuts as rookies in 1951. Unfortunately for the Giants, they could not capitalize on their momentum from the three-game playoff, and the Yankees triumphed in a six-game World Series, their third of five consecutive World Series titles.
