The 1961 New York Yankees were a juggernaut team, led by the home run hitting prowess of the “M&M Boys”, Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. Maris clubbed 61 home runs, setting a new single season MLB record and winning the American League MVP award. The oft-injured Mantle still pummeled American League pitching with 54 blasts of his own. Anchored by the pitchers Whitey Ford and Ralph Terry, who compiled a combined record of 41-7, the Yankees won 109 regular season games and demolished the Reds in a lopsided five game World Series.
Presented here is a 37 ½ x 24-inch poster from the artwork of famed artist Ron Lewis, whose 1990 work presented a formal team photo of the 1961 team. This poster has been signed by 34 members of that historic team with signatures that include Hall of Famers Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford and Yogi Berra.
