Presented is a Cincinnati Reds game model batting helmet signed by Hall of Fame shortstop Barry Larkin and 15 other Reds players from the 1993 team. The Cincinnati Reds' iconic "C" is in white on the front. The helmet has Larkin's "11" in white numerals on the back. Below the "11" is a tag showing both the "ABC (helmet)" logo and the MLB logo. Inside, the helmet front shows an American Baseball Cap (ABC) tag and the size "7.25". The inside front of the helmet also has an "Authentic Diamond Collection" tag and a warning concerning potential improper use of the helmet should it become damaged. Also signing the helmet: Chris Sabo, Jose Rijo, Kevin Mitchell (adding his #7), Jeff Branson, Tim Pugh, John Roper, Tim Pugh, Tim Costo, Jacob Brumfield, Roberto Kelly and five other Reds players. The 1993 Reds finished in 5th place in the National League West Division in 1993 as Larkin, a native of Cincinnati, hit .315. Rijo led the pitchers with a 14-9 record, Sabo led in home runs with 21, and Mitchell, in 93 games, hit .341. Before becoming a professional baseball player, Larkin attended the University of Michigan, intending to play both baseball and football, but the Wolverines' football coach, Bo Schembechler, advised Barry to redshirt during his freshman year, advice that Larkin termed, "The best decision Schembechler ever made, since it allowed me to concentrate on only one sport [baseball] for the first time." Larkin played all of his 19 Major League seasons with Cincinnati, hitting .295 lifetime, with 2,340 hits and 329 stolen bases. He was a 12-time All-Star, a 9-time Silver Slugger winner, and a 3-time Gold Glove recipient. Larkin was a major factor in the Reds' sweep of the Oakland Athletics in the 1990 World Series as Barry hit .353.
