A high-flying shooting guard out of Louisiana State University, "Pistol" Pete Maravich was one of basketball's most lethal scorers. Playing for his father, Peter "Press" Maravich, at LSU, Maravich averaged an incredible 44.2 points per game in his three years of NCAA ball, even before the adoption of the three-point line and the shot clock. He continued his torrid scoring in the pros, where he averaged over 24 points per game in an abbreviated 10-season career. Maravich was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1987. Tragically, he died of heart failure at the young age of 40 in 1988.
This offered white home New Orleans Jazz jersey dates to the mid-1970s, before the franchise transferred to Utah, and was worn by Maravich during this time frame. This size 44 Medalist Sand-Knit mesh jersey features "JAZZ" screen-printed on the front in purple, with green and yellow accents on the ball of the logo. Maravich's number "7" is screen-printed on the front and back, and "MARAVICH" is sewn on the back above his number in purple tackle twill. The jersey has been dated to the mid-1970s by the game experts at MEARS based on the Sand-Knit tag with a "44" flag and the numeric font of "52", which is the additional inventory patch sewn next to the Sand-Knit tag. Both the tag and the patch are sewn onto the front left tail. The open sleeves and rounded collar have a green, yellow, and purple pattern on a ribbed material. This jersey shows nice game use with some light stains and comes with a full LOA from MEARS (300748), who has given this Pete Maravich game-used jersey its highest possible grade of A10.
