Beautiful baseball signed in bold blue ink, on separate side panels, by President Herbert Hoover, thirty-first president of the United States and Hall of Famer Clark Griffith. Both signatures are Graded MINT 9 by PSA/DNA with an overall grade of 9. Clark Griffith enjoyed a lifetime in baseball, first as a star pitcher, then as a manager, and finally as owner of the Washington Senators, where he rose to prominence as one of the most influential figures in the game. Griffith was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1946, and he passed away nine years later in 1955. President Hoover, who played shortstop during his youth, was a great fan of our national pastime and once remarked that "baseball is the greatest of American sports." The record shows that Hoover attended nine major league games during his presidency, including four consecutive season openers in Washington where he threw out the ceremonial first pitch and three World Series games (1929, 1930, and 1931).
