As the country prospered into the late 1920s, Connie Mack went about the business of engineering one of the finest rosters ever known to the game. In accepting that talents of the Ruth-Gehrig design were firmly rooted in New York, he, among baseball's few, intended to demonstrate that the Yankees could be subdued. By 1929, all the pieces were in place, and the Athletics of Philadelphia now assaulted the summit of the American League.

Convincingly, this team marched to claim a dynasty that endured for three seasons, and had it not been for the crushing economic ice age that shortly ensued, the A’s may have evolved with a legacy as durable as New York's. In the meantime, however, there was this precious era of rejoicing. As demonstrated by this team signed Official American League E.S. Barnard baseball, the Athletics were simply awash with invincibility. 20 of them signed this offered baseball.

Signatures on this baseball include Hall of Famers Jimmie Foxx, Eddie Collins, Mickey Cochrane, Lefty Grove and Al Simmons, while other autographs include Bing Miller, Rube Walberg, Max Bishop, Eddie Rommel, Bill Shores, Jimmy Dykes, Cy Perkins, Sammy Hale, George Earnshaw and others.
