On August 2, 1907, a lanky hayseed named Walter Johnson made his professional debut, surrendering the very first hit of his Major League pitching career to a Detroit Tiger by the name of Ty Cobb. Forty-eight years later, this Official American League (Harridge) baseball was presented to the Georgia Peach for his autograph, which is applied to the side panel in mint blue ink above Cobb's handwritten date.
