A call comes out from the broadcasting branch of the Baseball Hall of Fame, with this Bob Elson single-signed ball. A double-duty announcer for both the White Sox and Cubs back in the 1940s, Elson was the third man bestowed with the prestigious Ford C. Frick Award, for his decades of excellence as a broadcaster. Elson passed away in 1981 just two years after receiving the Frick Award, making it at least forty years since he has been able to sign a baseball. Here we have a ball made by Roddy, that Elson has signed on the west panel. Bold blue signature. Full photo LOA from JSA.
