Fred Snodgrass Single Signed Official National League Baseball JSA COA
Rare single-signed ball from 1910s star Fred Snodgrass, who was pictured in a T206 card early in his career. Official National League (Giles) ball dates to the 1958-63 period (Snodgrass was in his 70s) and is signed in black fountain pen on the sweet spot along with the inscription "N.Y. Giants, C.F." Originally a catcher, Snodgrass was moved to the outfield where he batted a career-high .321 in the 1910 season. Although he was long remembered for his famous "muff" in the final game of the 1912 World Series, Snodgrass was later immortalized in Lawrence Ritter's classic baseball book, The Glory of Their Times. As noted in the JSA LOA, Snodgrass signed the ball twice. Apparently his first signature attempt wasn't taking, so he signed it again over the original attempt. The ball is lightly, evenly toned, and remains in EX condition. Full LOA from JSA.
