No basketball player in hardwood history has captured minds and hearts like Michael Jordan. A six-time NBA Finals champion and five-time NBA Most Valuable Player, Jordan's explosive skill and unbridled competitive fire led the former North Carolina star to an unprecedented 10 NBA scoring titles in his accolade-laden career. In 2022, the NBA renamed its MVP award the Michael Jordan Trophy to recognize Jordan's outsized impact on the modern game. Jordan—today the principal owner and chairman of the Charlotte Hornets—was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.
The sneaker that launched a thousand collections, the original Nike Air Jordan sneaker, was explicitly designed for Chicago Bulls Hall of Famer Michael Jordan in 1984 and released to the public with great fanfare and excitement on April 1, 1985. The sneakers were designed for Nike by noted designers Peter Moore, Bruce Kilgore, and Tinker Hatfield. Hatfield would create many variations of the Air Jordan sneaker over the next 36 years. Jordan was beginning to dazzle NBA spectators with his gravity-defying performances during the NBA's Slam Dunk contest. It quickly became a star in the eyes of millions of basketball enthusiasts who clamored for the sneakers he wore on the court.
These offered size 13 1/2 original Nike Air Jordan sneakers bear the classic Chicago Bulls colorway. The code located on the inside (850810TH) indicates a manufacturing date between August and October of 1985. Jordan penned his flowing and distinct signature on the upper of the right shoe with a black marker. The sneakers come with an LOA from JSA (XX50544) and from PSA/DNA (AK09662) for Jordan's signature.
