It was Cooperstown's biggest induction ceremony since the Hall of Fame made its debut in 1939, and a total of seven legends were enshrined in the Class of '55, including Joltin' Joe Dimaggio, Home Run Baker, Frank Baker, Gabby Hartnett, Ray Schalk and Dazzy Vance. Among the many HOFers in attendance was 88-year-old Cy Young, who would die of a heart attack several months later. All inductees of that year signed this Official American League Harridge ball.
