Pete Maravich "Pistol Pete" NBA Legends Multi Signed Basketball Beckett COA

$9,995.00

This basketball boasts the largest, full-panel, full-name Maravich signature that we're aware of, and it displays above fellow Hall of Famer Meadowlark Lemon and fellow court wizard Curly Neal. The circumstances were Pete's involvement with Lemon's post-Globetrotter show team known as the "Shooting Stars" (1984-87), which famously met First Lady Nancy Reagan at the White House. At the time, Maravich was mainly a Christian evangelist, yet basketball remained a constant in his life—and, sadly, just two years later at age 40, he would die of a heart attack while playing pick-up.

This important team-signed ball comes with the iron-clad provenance of Beckett's LOA and Mississippi coach Dutch Nichol's LOP, reading, "In 1986, I, Dutch Nichols, was coaching in Mississippi. I invited the Shooting Stars, the team that the former Harlem Globetrotters' Meadowlark Lemon formed. He signed the basketball along with Curly Neal, Pete Maravich & others." As noted by Beckett, also on the ball are Gator Rivers, Vince Humphrey and Ernest Aughburns.

LOA from Beckett. LOP from Dutch Nichols. The team picture of the Shooting Stars is shown for reference only and is not included.
