Having already announced his retirement at the conclusion of the 2016 season, Ortiz displayed that he was as good as he ever was and earned an All-Star nod (his 10th) and a Silver Slugger in 20th year in the big leagues. Offered here are a pair of Big Papa's well-worn batting gloves from the Red Sox 151st game of the 2016 season when Ortiz took Baltimore's Kevin Gausman deep for his 539th career home run.
This brilliant and bold pair of navy blue and gold batting gloves remain in excellent condition and have each been signed on the palms by the Red Sox HOFer. Each signature is centered in the palm and penned in black Sharpie, with heavy soiling apparent, especially at the base of the thumbs. Each Velcro enclosing back features the David Ortiz "Legendary" logo with a hologram certification sticker from Major League Baseball and another from Fanatics. Ortiz was an absolute terror at the plate for 20 seasons, including his last when he led the American League with 48 doubles and 127 RBIs, not to mention 38 homers.
