Widely considered the first great passer of professional football, Benny Friedman played his college ball at Michigan, where he led the Wolverines to consecutive 7-1 seasons, in 1925 and 1926. In 1927, Friedman joined the Cleveland Bulldogs of the NFL, and after his successful rookie season, he had a spectacular year with the Detroit Wolverines, where he led the league in passing touchdowns, rushing touchdowns and scoring. Friedman's performance that season was so impressive that Giants owner Tim Mara bought the Wolverines just so he could have the rights to Friedman.

Presented here is an ultra-scarce Rawlings R5 football signed by Friedman. The first of its kind we've seen, the ball still holds air and exhibits minimal wear throughout. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
