The last quarterback taken in the first round of the famed quarterback class of 1983, Dan Marino held or currently holds dozens of NFL records associated with the quarterback position, and despite never being on a Super Bowl-winning team, he is recognized among the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. The NFL’s MVP in 1984 and elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the class of 2005, offered here is this Miami Dolphins full-size professional model helmet that has been signed by Marino. Hailing from the era of the late-1980s when Dan was at the peak of his ability, the helmet is made by Riddell and features Dolphins logo decals over each side with alternating teal and orange stripes over the top that run from front to back. Ringing in at a size “7 5/8” according to the stickers on the interior and decorated over the front bumper with a “Dolphins” script wordmark logo decal, additional decals for Marino’s number “13” appear on the reverse while the helmet has had Dan’s preferred face mask added over the front. With the padding on the interior shows moderate use and soiling, the piece is said to have once hailed directly from the football team itself though it should be noted that the helmet does not come with any direct player provenance to indicate that it was actually used in a game by Marino. Helmet has various marks, scuffs and abrasions over the shell to indicate use as well as various signs of age, Marino has signed over the left side of the piece above the Dolphins decal with a black ink signature that displays well. Having had a JSA sticker numbered “XX73023” affixed to the rear, a matching JSA LOA will accompany.
