Fan favorite Darren Daulton played all but the last three months of his MLB career with the Philadelphia Phillies, where he was one of the 1993 "Macho Row" squad ringleaders. He was acquired by the Florida Marlins just before the trade deadline in 1997. This gave clever manager Jim Leyland another big bat, which he employed with deft precision, while guiding the Marlins to their first World Series championship.
A .389 hitter in the 1997 World Series, Daulton emphasized the point, with this signed and inscribed Rawlings fielder's glove. An All-Star catcher with the Phillies, Daulton was limited to first base, pinch hitting and an occasional leftfield appearance by this late point in his career, and he made the best use of his opportunities with the Marlins, to earn the first and only WS ring of his career, retiring at the end of the '97 season. An accompanying MEARS LOA notes heavy wear on this "Trap-Eze" model glove, and the MEARS worksheet states "Comes directly from Daulton". Signed on the back of the second and third fingers, Daulton's autograph and inscription "97 WS Champs" are bold silver felt-tip marker applications, registering ("9") strength. Auction LOA from JSA for the autograph.
