After establishing a Hall-of-Fame-worthy career in Japan, Ichiro Suzuki took little time to prove he was as legitimate as it gets. In his first season with the Seattle Mariners, Suzuki earned the American League Rookie of the Year Award and the AL MVP. Suzuki led the league in hits, stolen bases and batting average, and for good measure earned a Gold Glove Award, the year of this jersey. A future first ballot Hall of Fame inductee, Suzuki has proven to be one of the best hitters in baseball history. On the front left tail is the Russell Athletic manufacturer’s tag with washing instructions. Below is a tag with the year, “2001” printed on it and a flag tag that reads, “48 100% POLYESTER”. Across the chest reads, “SEATTLE” in navy blue on teal on white triple tackle twill. Across the back reads the player name, “ICHIRO” on a grey nameplate and below is the player number “51”. These are done in navy blue on teal tackle twill. On the left sleeve is an embroidered patch that reads, “ALL STAR GAME 2001 SEATTLE” and on the right sleeve is the “AMERICAN LEAGUE 100 SEASONS” patch. Ichiro signed the back of the jersey in silver marker with the added inscription “01 ROY/MVP” and in our opinion rates an 8. Beneath the signature is an Ichiro hologram. Also included is a navy blue undershirt with the player number “51” on the front left tail and also has an Ichiro hologram. Accompanied by a Full JSA LOA, a MEARS A10 LOA and a Mill Creek LOA for the undershirt.
