DiMaggio (1914-1999) is considered one of the greatest players in baseball history, with 13 MLB All-Star appearances. DiMaggio is a three-time American League MVP, and helped lead the New York Yankees to nine World Series Championship victories (1936–1939, 1941, 1947, 1949–1951). In 1941, DiMaggio would set the Major League record for consecutive games with a base hit (56 games from May 15 – July 16, 1941), a record which many claim to be "unbreakable."
