Official National League baseball (Giles) signed in blue ink by 29 members of the 1959 World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers, including Alston (sweet spot), Koufax, Drysdale, Reese (coach), Snider, Hodges, Podres, Furillo, Fowler, Klippstein, Snyder, Neal, Demeter, Labine, Moon, Sherry, Pignatano, McDevitt, Larker, Wills, Repulski, Mulleavy (coach), Williams, Fairly, Craig, and Roseboro. (The additional signatures of Dressen, Gilliam, and Zimmer have been deemed clubhouse examples by JSA.) In their final season of the decade, the Dodgers, a team in transition, finished in a first-place tie with the Milwaukee Braves. Two days later, the Dodgers had the NL pennant as they swept the Braves in a best-of-three playoff. The Dodgers then faced the Chicago White Sox in the Dodgers' fifth World Series of the 1950s. Using timely hitting and outstanding pitching, the Dodgers brought their first championship to Los Angeles and beat the Sox in six games. This team ball is extremely desirable, both for its rarity and for its significance as the first championship team for the Dodgers in their new home of Los Angeles. The ball is in nice condition. This is an exceptional example of one of the rarest Championship team-signed balls of the era. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
