Randy Johnson's 303 career wins put him among the top five greatest pitchers in the history of the game, and only Nolan Ryan struck out more batters. Throughout his career, Johnson won every pitcher’s award there was to win: 5 Cy Young Awards, a World Series MVP, and the Triple Crown. He pitched a no-hitter in 1990 and then one-upped himself by pitching a perfect game in 2004. Simply put, as long as he took the mound, Randy Johnson was the most dominant left-hander in the game. When there was no other award to win or record to shatter, ‘The Big Unit’ called it a career.

In 2009, The Big Unit was etching closer to the vaunted 300-win mark for his career. During his May 27th start, Johnson earned the win to come within a game of 300. His 299th career win was at the expense of the Atlanta Braves as he pitched 6 innings, allowing only 3 hits and 1 earned run during the Giants’ 6-3 victory. Presented here is the very hat worn by Johnson when he recorded his fourth win of the 2009 season and 299th of his Hall of Fame career. This all-black size 7 3/8 Giants New Era 59FIFTY cap has the interlocking “SF” logo embroidered raised orange stitching on the front. This six-panel cap has Johnson’s number “51” handwritten in black marker on the inside crown. Johnson has signed this hat in bold silver marker on the top of the brim and inscribed “#51” and “#299”. This hat displays moderate wear and is a great gamer from one of baseball’s greatest pitchers. This comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (LH564011), authenticating Johnson’s use of this hat during the May 27th game, along with his signature and inscription.
