Roger Maris Signed 1964 Game Issued Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat PSA DNA COA

$8,995.50

The early 1960’s were a time when baseball was at the forefront of the Sporting World, the New York Yankees appeared in the first four World Series of the Decade, and the first three MVP awards were won by the M & M boys, Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle.  With Mickey Mantle as the predominant fan favorite, Maris’ autograph wasn’t nearly as sought after with the local sports fans, therefore, his signed items are far scarcer in today’s collectibles market.

The 1964 season was Roger Maris’ fourth season playing in New York and was a season in which he hit 20 home runs for the fifth consecutive season and final time he would eclipse the mark in his career.  Roger Maris professional model bats are amongst a small group of Non-Hall of Famer lumber that remain extremely desirable.  Furthermore, Maris preferred H&B bats throughout his playing days.  Yankee-era Maris bats are generally valued higher than bats used prior to 1960 or while playing for the St. Louis Cardinals at the end of his career.

This M110 Roger Maris Professional Model bat dates to the 1964 season.  This bat dates to the 1964 season based on the C17 center brand that was introduced in September of 1964. Maris’ Professional Bat Ordering Record (PBOR), which is on file at Louisville Slugger, Inc., found the order for this M110 model was made on September 23rd, 1964 and Maris did not order the M110 model during the 1965-68 labeling periods, which the center brand is generally associated. While it lacks ball marks, his number on the knob, and his customary pine tar, this bat does possess bat rack marks on the barrel knob and features a bold signature on the barrel with the salutation, “Best Wishes” which leads to the conclusion that this bat was most likely a gift from Roger to someone important to him so much so that he sacrificed one of his game bats to provide such a generous offering to a fan.  The bat remains a perfect uncracked specimen from the prime of Maris’ career in pinstripes and professional baseball.  The bat has been authenticated by PSA/DNA (1B05302) and comes with a Full LOA while the signature has additionally been certified by PSA/DNA and the Hologram (B15903) is located on the handle of the lumber.  This bat signed bat is an ultimate rarity being offered here back to the public.
