1987 Nolan Ryan Signed Houston Astros Authentic Team Issued Jersey Beckett COA
With seven no-hitters spread across a career that spanned four decades, Nolan Ryan has gone down as one of the greatest pitchers to ever take the field. Originally a star with the Mets and Angels, Ryan went home to Texas in 1980 and led his home-state Astros to the first two division championships in franchise history.
After leading the Astros to the 1986 National League Western Division title, Ryan followed that campaign with an even better 1987 season. Ryan led the National League in ERA with 2.76 and strikeouts with 270, all at the age of 40. Ryan would spend his last season with the Astros in 1988 before finishing his career with the Texas Rangers. When Ryan retired in 1993, he was the all-time leader in strikeouts with 5,784 and in no-hitters with seven.
Ryan was issued this Houston Astros road jersey during the 1987 season. This size 46 Rawlings pullover jersey is a cream color with “Astros” and a star sewn on in navy and white tackle twill. A solid navy stripe runs down the sides and the sleeves have red, yellow and orange stripes bordered in navy running vertically. The Rawlings logo is embroidered in navy on the base of the right sleeve. The V-neck collar is navy and the Rawlings tag and “SET 2 1987” flag is sewn on the inside front left tail. The back of the jersey has “34” sewn on in navy and white tackle twill with “RYAN” sewn on in navy on a matching cream-colored nameplate. Ryan has signed this jersey below “Astros” and to the left of the star on the front of the jersey in black marker.
