From a not-too-distant era during which 500 career home runs meant automatic enshrinement in Cooperstown, this Louisville Slugger Mickey Mantle game model 34” bat commemorates that esteemed longball fraternity and is autographed by its (11) then-living members. The strong blue marker signatures include: Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, Reggie Jackson, Harmon Killebrew, Mickey Mantle , Eddie Mathews, Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Frank Robinson, Mike Schmidt and Ted Williams. The bat dates to 1987-1989. At that time, the 500 Home Run Club was 14 members strong (with Ruth, Foxx and Ott preceding the aforementioned players). Since then, performance-enhancing substances have played a role in membership skyrocketing to 27. Folks, these are the “true” home run heroes, not the laboratory experiments that followed.
