The 1941 All-Star Game was played at Briggs Stadium in Detroit on July 8. With the NL leading 5-4 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Ted Williams stepped to the plate with two on and two out. Facing Claude Passeau, the Splendid Splinter launched a game-winning, 3-run homer to win it for the AL in perhaps the most exciting finish in the history of the Midsummer Classic.
