The 1968 Detroit Tigers became World Champions in a seven-game World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Offered is the opportunity to possess a '68 Detroit Tigers team-signed base with 17+ signatures. The '68 Tigers, skippered by Mayo Smith, were led to the AL pennant, with a 103-59-2 record behind the phenomenal pitching of Denny McLain. The right-hander went 31-6, leading the AL in wins, games started (41), innings pitched (336.0), and complete games (28). McLain won both the AL Cy Young Award and the AL MVP. In the '68 World Series, Mickey Lolich became the Tigers' star, going 3-0, with three complete game wins to take the World Series MVP. In the regular season, left fielder Willie Horton batted .285 with 36 round-trippers and 85 RBIs, Hall of Fame right fielder Al Kaline batted .287 with ten home runs that season, with catcher Bill Freehan and first baseman Norm Cash each hitting 25 homers.
