A Museum-Quality Piece of World Series Officiating History: Official 1979 World Series Umpire Presentational Ring, Custom Inscribed to LuJane Neudecker, Wife of Legendary Umpire Jerry Neudecker.
One of the most uniquely personal pieces of baseball memorabilia ever to surface: an official MLB World Series Umpire ring manufactured by Balfour for the historic 1979 World Series matchup between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Baltimore Orioles.
Unlike standard team rings, official MLB Umpire rings are among the rarest championship-style rings in existence. They are strictly ordered only for the specific officiating crew chosen to call the Fall Classic.
This ring features ironclad player-source provenance, coming directly from a large, private lot of baseball memorabilia acquired from the Neudecker estate.
• The Engraving: The inner band features two highly distinct, crisp factory stampings. The left side is stamped with the official "BALFOUR 10K" hallmark. The right side features a gorgeous, deep factory engraving reading "LUJANE NEUDECKER."
• The Legacy: Jerry Neudecker called a legendary career as an AL Umpire from 1966 to 1985. He famously worked Home Plate for the decisive Game 7 of this 1979 series and holds an eternal place in baseball lore as the very last full-time MLB umpire to use the classic outside "balloon" chest protector.
• The Keepsake: This ring was a custom-ordered presentational piece specifically sized (Size 6.5) and engraved by Balfour for Jerry's beloved wife of 48 years, LuJane.
• Metal: Solid 10K Yellow Gold (Both factory stamped and fully tested).
• Center Stone: A beautiful diamond, securely bezel-mounted (Fully tested).
• Face Text: Boldly displays "WORLD SERIES UMPIRE" framing the top and bottom borders, with the split years "7" and "9" flanking the diamond frame.
• Shoulders: Intricately detailed reliefs featuring the text "PITTSBURGH" on one shank and "BALTIMORE" on the other.
• Size: 6.5 (Perfect for display, or for wear as a rare historical statement piece).
