2022 Milwaukee Brewers American League Champions 40th Anniversary Multi-Signed Commemorative Bat. The 1982 Milwaukee Brewers enjoyed the greatest season in franchise history, winning the American League East with a 95-67 record under managers Buck Rodgers and Harvey Kuenn before capturing the franchise's first American League pennant. Nicknamed "Harvey's Wallbangers" for their powerful offense, the Brewers were led by future Hall of Famers Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, and Rollie Fingers, along with Cecil Cooper, Ted Simmons, Gorman Thomas, Ben Oglivie, and Pete Vuckovich. Milwaukee defeated the California Angels in a dramatic five-game American League Championship Series after trailing two games to none, advancing to the World Series for the first time. Although the Brewers lost a hard-fought seven-game World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals, the 1982 club remains the most celebrated team in franchise history and one of the finest teams of the era.
