In only their fourth year of existence, the Diamondbacks raced through the play-offs and then played Game 7 of the World Series at home at against the New York Yankees. The Diamondbacks won the game on a walk-off single by Luis Gonzalez. Earlier in the Series, the environment was somber in New York City when the Diamondbacks visited Ground Zero at the World Trade center, as the World Series stated less than a month after 9-11.
