2001 World Series Game 1 Game Used Base Signed By Curt Schilling Steiner COA
In one of the great World Series of all-time, the Arizona Diamondbacks scratched two runs off of unanimous Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera in the bottom of the ninth inning to win an emotional Fall Classic over the New York Yankees. The nation was steel reeling from the devastating attacks of September 11th and the Yankees and Diamondbacks did all they could do to help a grieving nation and city of New York.
Offered here is the game used second base from Game 1 of the 2001 World Series played at Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix, Arizona on October 27, 2001. The Diamondbacks jumped out on Hall of Famer Mike Mussina, building an 8-1 lead after four innings. Curt Schilling held the Yankees in-check, allowing only 1 run and 3 hits in seven strong innings as Arizona took the first game of the World Series 9-1. This white base displays outstanding game use with dirt marks across the top. The center of this base has the 2001 World Series logo and the sides the MLB logo on opposite sides with the Diamondbacks’ logo on one side and the Yankees logo on the other. Schilling has signed his name in black marker beneath the World Series logo and inscribed “Gm 1 8 Ks AZ 9 NY 1”. The underside of the base has handwritten in black marker “WS GAME 1 SET C 2B”. This base comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (MT00657606) for Schilling’s signature and a COA from Steiner Sports.
