On April 16, 1932, in a game against the Washington Senators at Shibe Park, Philadelphia Athletics outfielder Al Simmons hit his 2nd home run of the season and 175th of his career. Offered here is a baseball attributed to that very home run. The official American League baseball (Harridge) has vintage handwritten notations on three of the side panels. The notations in black ink read "April 16th/32 - Score Athletics 4 - Washington 2" on one side panel, while the second panel reads "Home Run Ball Hit off Crowder." The inscription on the third panel reads "Winning Pitcher Grove." According to the accompanying JSA letter, "all of the handwriting on the ball was penned by Al Simmons.Originated from a relative of Al Simmons. The ball has all the characteristics of a game-used ball, including moderate soiling and a few light abrasions. In Good condition overall. Comes with Full Letter COA from Mears.
