Offered in this lot is a gray Atlanta Braves road jersey issued to Andruw Jones circa 1996-98. Jones was one of the best centerfielders in baseball during that era after his debut in 1996. The native of Willemstad, Curacao nearly posted a 30/30 season in 1998, finishing with 31 homers and 27 stolen bases, while winning the first of his 10 Gold Glove awards for his magisterial defensive play. A 17-year pro, Jones saw his Hall of Fame vote increase to 19.4% in 2020 from 7.3% in his first appearance on the ballot in 2017.
This offered Braves road jersey is a gray button-down, with “Atlanta” and a tomahawk logo patch sewn on the chest in red and navy tackle twill. “A. JONES” is sewn across the back shoulders of the jersey in navy tackle twill over a matching gray nameplate. Jones’ number “25” is sewn on the back of the jersey in red and navy tackle twill. A Russell Athletic logo is sewn on the right sleeve. Navy-red-navy piping accents the chest, collar, and sleeves. A Russell size “42” tag with an attached “100% Polyester” flag is sewn on the front left tail. Jones has signed the “5” digit on the back of the jersey in black marker.
