Rare 1920's Babe Ruth Sweet Spot Signed D&M Baseball. Among the many thousands of spheres signed by Babe, very few were Draper & Maynard "Lucky Dog" examples. The Bambino loved D&M from the moment he first visited its Plymouth, N.H. factory in 1916, back when he was an ace hurler for the world champion Red Sox. Ruth struck an endorsement deal that lasted 5 years and included D&M gloves, bats and balls. According to the Keene Sentinel newspaper, it was none other than Ruth himself who popularized the D&M mascot, after seeing the Maynard family's bird dog at the factory and commenting, "Gee, you’ve got one of those Lucky Dog kinds." And the rest is advertising history. Full LOA from JSA.
