Philadelphia Athletics Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack has signed this Spalding Official Baseball. Mack enjoyed a solid career as a Major League catcher for the Washington Nationals, Buffalo Bisons, and Pittsburgh Pirates, before taking the managerial job for the freshman Philadelphia Athletics in 1901. Mack managed the Athletics from 1901 to 1950, retiring at the grand age of 87 after winning nine pennants and five World Series titles with the A’s. Mack was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937 via the Centennial Committee, more than a decade before his eventual retirement.

Mack has signed the sweet spot of this baseball in crisp black steel-tip fountain pen. On the north panel of the baseball, Mack inscribed “May Live Long and Be Very Happy”. A second inscription of “1/18/51” has been written on the south panel in an unknown hand. This baseball comes with a full letter LOA from JSA (Z85956).
