As one of the original 1936 MLB Hall of Fame inductees and the star of the hobby's most sought-after card, Honus Wagner's signature on any baseball is among the most treasured pieces in the hobby. The legendary Johannes Peter "Honus" Wagner passed away on Dec. 6, 1955, at the age of 81, and is still regarded as our National Pastime's greatest all-time shortstop. His National League record of eight batting titles, .328 batting average, 3,420 hits, 723 stolen bases, and stellar infield play substantiate his undisputed stature as the "best of the rest." Upon his retirement, he served as a coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates, tutoring Hall of Famers Arky Vaughan and Ralph Kiner.
This Official Major League (Honus Wagner model) ball was inked by Wagner on sweet spot, adding the inscription "Pirates 1940."The inscription "Banquet Dec. 18, 1940," and a personalization were inked by an unknown hand. This resounding ball has defied father time, serving as an emblem of Wagner's career and a collectible worthy of entry into any serious MLB collection. Accompanied by an LOA from JSA for Wagner's signature and inscription.
