1954 Bill Russell "Stella Pastry" trophy. Very early figural basketball trophy presented to Russell while in attendance at the University of San Francisco. Diminutive trophy stands 7 1/2" tall, brass plated figural basketball player finial atop a brass and bakelite vase. Inscribed brass ring at bottom, "Stella Pastry 54" in reference to the prominent San Francisco bakery established in 1945. Likely issued as related to a tournament of some type. Overall condition is very fine with scattered small areas of flaking to the brass plating. One of the earliest dated basketball related trophies within the Russell Collection. Includes certificate of provenance from Bill Russell.
