Schilling started this game, pitching 5.2 innings and striking out 12 Braves in Philadelphia’s 9-1 road loss to Atlanta. Schilling made his first career All-Star team in 1997, finishing the season with a 17-11 record, a 2.97 ERA, and the most strikeouts in baseball, with 319.
