George Mikan HOF 1959 Signed Los Angeles Lakers Mitchell & Ness Jersey PSA & JSA
$4,995.00
Presented is a 1949-50 Mitchell & Ness Minneapolis Lakers Away basketball jersey, signed by Hall of Famer George Mikan. Nicknamed "Mr. Basketball," Mikan was one of the pioneers of professional basketball who redefined the game with his stature, techniques, and relentless play style. The gentle giant had a highly successful basketball career, winning seven NBL, BAA, and NBA championships in nine seasons, an NBA All-Star Game MVP trophy, and three scoring titles. Mikan was so dominant on the court, the NBA instated rule changes to reduce his influence, including widening the lane from six to twelve feet (known as "The Mikan Rule"); the introduction of the shot clock; the outlawing of defensive goaltending; and the introduction of the three-point line. Despite his early retirement from the game and struggle with financial and health issues later in life, Mikan is still widely celebrated and cited as an influence by players and fans. This offered jersey features all lettering and numbering in tackle twill, with the abbreviated Minneapolis Lakers logo on the jersey's front and Mikan's jersey number "99" both on the front and back of the jersey. The front left tail of the jersey features a Mitchell & Ness manufacturer's patch and a patch dated "1949-50." Mikan has penned his flowing signature in silver paint marker next to the "99" on the front of the jersey. This item is accompanied by a COA from JSA (CE00054) and COA from PSA DNA for the signature.
