Hank Greenberg Signed First Baseman's Baseball Glove The Only One Known JSA COA
Hall of Famer Hank Greenberg, one of the most prolific sluggers of his generation, placed a black ink signature on the inside of this offered TMC first basemen’s glove. Standing at an imposing 6-foot-4, Greenberg led the Major Leagues in homers three times, including a sensational 58 bombs in 1938, which tied Jimmie Foxx's 1932 total for the most single-season home runs hit between 1927 and 1961. A career .313 hitter, "Hammerin' Hank" was twice named the American League MVP. His career totals would be even more impressive if not for his 47 months of military service during World War II (the most of any player). Apart from his prodigious long-ball totals and selfless service to his country, Greenberg is remembered as the first Jewish superstar athlete in American team sports, serving as a model for Jewish athletic achievement during an era of rampant anti semitism. Greenberg—a Cooperstown inductee in 1956—passed away in 1986 at the age of 75. The glove is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from JSA for the signature.
