The legendary “Flying Dutchman” probably spent more time in a Pittsburgh Pirates uniform than anyone else before or since. After a long and successful eighteen-year playing career in Pittsburgh (1900-1917), Wagner rejoined the club as a coach in 1930. Extremely popular with both the players and fans, Wagner was a fixture on the Pirates bench for twenty-two years before retiring in 1951 at the age of seventy-seven
