The 1954 season was the first under manager Walter Alston, who would go on to lead the Dodgers franchise to four World Series titles and earn enshrinement into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Alston’s Dodgers would win 92 games in his debut season; however, they would finish five games behind their cross-town rivals, the New York Giants. The 1954 Dodgers also featured two future Hall of Fame managers – Tom Lasorda and Dick Williams.
