James J. Jim Corbett 1932 Single Signed Baseball The Only One Known PSA DNA COA

$5,849.10

1932 Jim Corbett Single Signed Baseball. Almost certainly the only specimen of its kind, this stunning single is rendered in the thunderous right hand of "Gentleman Jim" Corbett, the only man ever to defeat the great John L. Sullivan in the boxing ring. His black ink signature, never before encountered upon a baseball, much less as a single signed variety, rates a stunning 9+/10, and is notated with an "Aug 28/1932" date in his hand, just six months before his passing at the age of sixty-six. One can only wonder why Corbett might have been presented a baseball for signing, though it is interesting to note that his younger brother Joe was a pitcher in the Major Leagues from 1895 through 1904, including the National League Champion Baltimore Orioles of 1896. The "Official League" baseball convincingly apes the appearance of period National League models, and presents beautifully. A one-of-a-kind offering for the collector seeking something different. Full letter COA from PSA DNA.
