Jordan made it three straight scoring titles in 1988-89, averaging an NBA-best 32.5 points per game in the midst of a seven-year reign as the NBA’s scoring champ as he helped lead the Bulls to a 47-35 record – advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals. Jordan averaged eight assists and eight rebounds per game, with both numbers representing career-best marks for the former Tar Heel. He averaged 2.9 steals per game with his swarming defense from the two-guard position, earning a spot on both the All-NBA First Team and the All-NBA Defensive First Team. While Magic Johnson was named the NBA MVP, Jordan took home the 1988-89 Sporting News Most Valuable Player Award.
