Mickey Mantle signed to the right of the sweet spot, partially over the end of the Yankee Clipper's autograph. Perhaps Mantle was mimicking when Mantle played right field with DiMaggio in center field in the 1951 World Series in the Yankee Clipper's last season and Mantle's first.
Signing on the right edge of the sweet spot and partially over the end of DiMaggio's signature were Whitey Ford and Don Larsen, the only pitcher to throw a World Series perfect game.
