Presented is a Nathan Mayer Rothschild signature on an 1822 Russian Imperial Bond, #AG1375. Rothschild signed his name vertically in black ink in the upper right margin of the document, which is printed in black and red ink in the Cyrillic alphabet of Imperial Russia. The loan bond is in the amount of 720 rubles, and the certificate features numerous seals, stamps, inscriptions and signatures in black ink.

Rothschild (1777 - 1836) was an English-German banker, businessman and financier. and was of the second generation of the Rothschild banking dynasty. Once the wealthiest man on earth, he was the richest among the Rothschilds. In 1798, at the age of 21, he settled in Manchester, England and established a business in textile trading and finance, later moving to London, England and making a fortune in trading bills of exchange through a banking enterprise begun in 1805.
