Quick to discard even successful netminders beginning with Harry Lumley after a young Terry Sawchuk filled in admirably for 7 games, the Detroit Red Wings would also deal Sawchuk to Boston in 1955 for a promising Glenn Hall despite five strong seasons where the Winnipeg native won the Calder and three Vezina trophies while leading the Motor City squad to a trio of Stanley Cup championships. Returning to Detroit for a number of seasons beginning in 1957-58, Sawchuk was claimed in the 1964 NHL Intra-League Draft by Toronto, and famously backstopped the Leafs with Johnny Bower to the 1967 Stanley Cup championship.
This signed Type III photo of the deceased legend has been deemed "Authentic" by PSA, with the autograph graded 9.
A circa 1965-66 team-issued Leafs photo at 8" x 10", Sawchuk is pictured all smiles, with his large, stunning blue ballpoint signature placed over the upper left with "Best Wishes".
