The Finest 1997 David Ortiz Rookie Signed Game Used Bat PSA DNA 9.5 1/1
$29,995.00
Exceedingly rare David Ortiz "Arias" 1997 Minnesota Twins game used & autographed rookie bat. Highly coveted bat from the 500 HR Club member's very first bat order with the Minnesota Twins during his 1997 rookie season. Ordered in January, 1997 for then David Arias before his name change became legal. Louisville Slugger block letter model C243 bat measuring 34 inches and weighing 31.4 ounces. The bat exhibits outstanding game use with ball and stitch marks as well as blue ink transfer marks, crisscross taped handle, cleat marks, and moderate light pine tar. Signed on the barrel "David Ortiz "Arias" in bold marker. This bat is especially unique in that this bat was ordered for Ortiz before he had officially changed his name from David Arias to David Ortiz. His legal name up until he was traded from the Mariners to the Twins in 1996 was David Arias. He decided to change it to his paternal surname, Ortiz. This bat was from an order that was placed before that name change became legal. Highly coveted rookie bat of this 500 Home Run Club member, 10 time All-Star and Hall of Famer. Originally acquired back in the late 1990's from a store named Shinders in downtown Minneapolis, MN. They often had Twins game used items for sale during that time. Accompanied by a PSA/DNA John Taube Letter of Authenticity grading the bat a GU 9.5. Also accompanied by a JSA Letter of Authenticity for the autograph. This is the only 1997 Rookie Ortiz bat I've ever seen.
