Distributed as premiums in mailing tubes by Baseball Magazine between 1918 and 1958, these posters measured about 10" x 12" and included approximately 750 different players over the four decades in which they were produced. According to the Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards, this Ty Cobb premium was originally issued in 1941, along with 15 other players including Christy Mathewson and Honus Wagner. Presented here is a well-preserved example, signed by Cobb in his customary green ink. The premium has been carefully trimmed of its white borders on all four sides, measuring approximately 7 3/16" x 9 1/2". It is the signature, however, applied carefully and legibly, that lends the item its desirability. Authenticated and encapsulated by Beckett Authentication Services.
